The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament. (Catechism of the Catholic Church no. 1601)
You're engaged and excited about getting married. Where do you start? What's the process? Who should you call?
Your first step: Call Charisse Saucier in the parish office at least 8 months before the wedding date: 985-202-0238
To be married in the Catholic Church, one party to the marriage must be Catholic and both must be free to marry, i.e. either not previously married, or if one was previously married, he/she has received through the Catholic Church a declaration of nullity for that previous marriage.
You can find more information and forms by contacting the office:

A married couple works one on one with an engaged couple to help them successfully transition to a lifetime of living and loving together in the sacrament of matrimony. This process includes 6 two-hour sessions which take place in the home of the married couple and are spaced out over 3-6 months. Couples who wish to work in this ministry go through a one day training program offered by the Archdiocese. They are given manuals with the topics to cover and step-by step guidance.
