#iGiveCatholic is the first-ever online giving day for the Catholic community. It is a call to share of our blessings with the Church and those the Church helps and supports in our communities.
This year, #iGiveCatholic is being celebrated by 6 Catholic parishes in the southeast region: The Archdiocese of New Orleans, Diocese of Austin, Diocese of Baton Rouge, Diocese of Biloxi, Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, and Diocese of Jackson.
Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic School opened in 1996 to grades K through second, with 33 students. That little school with big dreams started out in what is now the Parish Center.
In 1998, a new classroom building opened, and the school began to grow, known for its excellent academics and warm welcome. By 2005, when Katrina hit, Mary,Queen of Peace Catholic School was home to more than 200 students in grades Pre-K3 through 7th. After Hurricane Katrina, the school nearly doubled in size, and modular classroom buildings were added to accommodate those who needed a place to call home.
At Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic School, you will hear the laughter of children. They laugh because they are filled with joy - the joy that comes from knowing that they are in a safe and sacred place, where the love of Christ is present each and every day.
At Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic School, we learn. We learn reading, math, science, and more. We learn what it means to be a good student and a good friend. And, of course, we learn the most important lesson of all: To love as Jesus does.
At Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic School, we pray. We pray as the day begins and ends. We learn to make our very lives a prayer, a living witness to God's great love.
