EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Adore Christ for Peace "It is He Who is Our Peace" (Eph 2:14)

"The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament ... will help bring about an everlasting peace on earth." (Mother Teresa of Calcutta)

"Adoration will heal our Church and thus our nation and thus our world. ... Adoration is more powerful for construction than nuclear bombs are for destruction." (Peter Kreeft, theologian)

With everything that is happening in the world today and in the Catholic Church, we should come together as a parish and spend time before Jesus in Adoration.

Eucharistic adoration is an expression of our love for Jesus, who loves us so much that He never wants to leave us and so stays with us day and night in the Blessed Sacrament. For He says, "Behold I am with you always" because "I have loved you with an everlasting love. And constant is my affection for you."  (Mt 28:20; Jer 31:3)

Pope John Paul II in his first encyclical letter, Redemptor Hominis, says that Eucharistic adoration is the most fundamental duty in the life of the Christian and that liturgical celebration of the Eucharist and private worship of the Eucharist complement each other. He states: "Our communal worship at Mass must go together with our personal worship of Jesus in Eucharist adoration in order that our love may be complete."

"Could you not watch one hour with me?" (Mt 26:40)

Please call Betty Eberts today at 727-7241 to spend your hour with Jesus or e-mail bbeberts115@aol.com.

PRAYER/ROSARY GROUP

The Prayer/Rosary Group meets on Friday mornings after the 9:00 a.m. Mass to pray the Rosary.

Please contact Paula Gannon at 674-0048 or Barbara Flanagan at 867-9327 for more information.

The Fifteen Promises of Mary to Christians who recite the Rosary

1.     Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the rosary shall receive signal graces.

2.     I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the rosary.

3.     The rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell; it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.

4.     It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.

5.     The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the rosary shall not perish.

6.     Whoever shall recite the rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God and become worthy of eternal life.

7.     Whoever shall have a true devotion for the rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.

8.     Those who are faithful to recite the rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.

9.     I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the rosary.

10. The faithful children of the rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in heaven.

11. You shall obtain all that you ask of me by the recitation of the rosary.

12. All those who propagate the holy rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.

13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.

14. All who recite the rosary are my sons and brothers of my only Son, Jesus Christ.

15. Devotion of my rosary is a great sign of predestination.

LEGION OF MARY GROUP

We are an active lay ministry of faithful members of the worldwide Legion of Mary. Members bring communion to the sick, visit the ill and homebound and gather every Wednesday morning after Mass to pray and discuss how to “bring Christ to souls and souls to Christ.” It is a very heartfelt and fulfilling ministry. Are you being called? Everyone is welcome to meet in the cry room at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. Call Cindy Durtsche at 892-6347 or e-mail durtsche@bellsouth.net.

SERRA CLUB

The Serra Club promotes religious vocations and assists those studying to attain their ordination through gifts of material things. We work closely with the seminary at the Abby; we also provide programs for the schools to encourage more vocations to the religious life. We have a monthly Mass and meeting at churches in the western St. Tammany deanery: Mary, Queen of Peace, St. Anselm, St. Peter and St. Jane de Chantal.
The Mass and meeting is usually held on the first Thursday of the month after 8 or 9 a.m. Mass, depending on the location. The officers and board meet monthly on the third Thursday at Mary, Queen of Peace at 8 a.m. We welcome anyone interested to join us at the Mass or contact membership chairman Bill Barry at 626-5205 or ministry leader Clint Romig at 845-8403.
