ADULT FORMATION

The Adult Formation Ministry is an evolving ministry.  The mission of the ministry is to provide opportunities to further the knowledge of our Catholic Faith to all Mary, Queen of Peace Parishioners.

Sunday to Sunday -is a Bible Study Program that focuses on the Gospel readings for the following Sunday.  The participants share the scripture readings with the Paulist Fathers via a video and each other.  Attendance is open to all parishioners.  Check the church calendar for further information or call the Church Office.

The Little Rock Bible Study Program - is a Bible Study Program that focuses on particular books of the Bible of both the Old and the New Testaments.  Registration and the purchase of a work-study guide is necessary for interested participants prior to the beginning of each session. It also requires approximately 20 minutes of home study per day.   Trained facilitators assist in the coordination of this program.  Check the monthly Church Calendar for further information or call the Church Office. Click here for more information.

Reading Materials - Book racks have been installed in the lobby of the Church.  They contain Catholic Updates and other pamphlets. Some of the printed materials are free.  Others will have an envelope for you to pay for them – which will cover the cost of the materials.  It is our intent to keep fresh and new materials available.

Faith Connection  - Continues to be distributed in the weekly bulletin.  This insert is devoted to explaining the meaning of the current scripture reading for the week.

Lectures – will be scheduled periodically and will be made available to all parishioners.  Check the church calendar or call the  Church Office for additional information.

Why study the Bible? :

¨     The Scriptures are at the heart of our Catholic faith, and every effort to know the Bible is an effort to understand our faith.

¨     As the Word of God, the bible has the potential to deepen our relationship with God and transform our lives.

¨     Studying and reflecting on the Bible is the best means of forming people into communities of faith.

Little Rock Scripture Study at Mary Queen of Peace is featured in the June 2007 edition of the Stepping Stones Newsletter put out by the Little Rock organization in Arkansas.  Follow this link to read about the Little Rock Scripture Study at Mary Queen of Peace. www.littlerockscripture.org

Testimonials:

"The Little Rock Scripture Study has been a wonderful opportunity for me to bond with other people in our Parish.  I have never before experienced such a strong Faith Community as I do in Little Rock.  Of all the ministries with which I am involved at MQP, LRSS is the one that I do for me."

"...my faith is both stronger, resting on a better foundation, and deeper, as I am more willing to witness it to others and to challenge others when needed."

"I'm going on my 3rd year with LRSS and I love and look forward to Tuesday night.  Try it and it will change your life!"

“LRSS has helped me in many ways.  First, I understand so much more about God's Word, and see so many connections between the different books of the Bible.  Secondly, the LRSS has been a wonderful opportunity for me to bond with other people in our parish. Of all the ministries with which I am involved at MQP, LRSS is the one that I do for me”.

“LRSS has helped me to begin to understand the many layers of meaning in the gospels and valuable insights of other group members.  My prayer life has expanded.  I certainly have a better understanding of how our Church was birthed.  My faith is stronger, resting on a better foundation, and deeper, as I am more willing to witness it to others and to challenge others when needed”.
